Vantastival Tupelo tupelo

Tupelo

Tupelo are an exciting, original, acoustic roots act consisting of an eclectic line-up of instruments which includes banjo, guitar, fiddle, double bass, mandolin, harmonica and dobro. Their sound is fresh and unique in today’s world of endless electric outfits. They formed in the winter of 2008 in Dublin and can attribute their progress to relentless giging up and down the country, honing their craft doing so. Between headlining shows, appearances at countless festivals, and playing support to some of music’s biggest acts, the band loves being on the road and thrives off their fans and live shows.
In May 2011 Tupelo signed to Crashed Records and released their 14 track debut album ‘Dirty Money’ on September 23rd. An appearance at the All-Ireland Hurling Final at Croke Park in front of 80,000 people was the opportunity of a lifetime for Tupelo. Tupelo have since released singles from the album, ‘Don’t Let Go’ ‘Firefly’, with the songs garnering plentiful radio play from stations up and down the nation. The album was also released in the UK on July 16th with songs on the album receiving airplay on UK stations including BBC Radio 2. The summer of 2012 saw Tupelo embark on their first overseas tour with a string of dates in the UK and Denmark. They also travelled to Russia for the first time in early 2013 and played several well received shows. There was also some great news for Tupelo as they were voted the Best Trad/Folk act in the Hot Press Reader’s Poll. More gigs abroad are booked in for 2013 and the lads will be visiting Norway, France as well as the UK and Denmark again.
The lads have just finished recording their second album and it is set for a spring 2013 release.
“…with an authentic formula that scores where it matters, Tupelo make music
that sounds as joyful to make as it is to listen to.” ★★★★ Hot Press
